In 1980, while living in Fort Worth, Texas, Sharon saw an ad which read, "if you can hold a brush, I can teach you to paint".  She immediately responded and began painting lessons.  These lessons continued for almost a year, until Sharon and her husband moved to Ohio.

Sharon did not pick up a brush again until the fall of 1993.  She resumed painting in acrylics and eventually watercolors.

Since oil painting had always been a dormant passion, she began studying and painting again in oils.  In her  quest to find the perfect teacher,  she studied with numerous instructors.  This path finally led her to Johnnie Liliedahl, one of the countries leading fine art teachers.  After attending several of Johnnie's classes in Atlanta,  Georgia, Sharon decided to go all the way.  In 2004, she attended the Liliedahl School of  Classical Oil Painting in LaPorte, Texas, and is a proud graduate.  During the nine weeks of intensive studies, she studied color theory, landscapes, still life, portraiture, and Old Master Flemish and Venetian methods.   In January 2005 she passed all the certification requirements, including a week of student teaching, and is now a Certified Liliedahl Instructor.

Sharon resides in Knoxville, TN, where she conducts weekly classes in her home studio, as well as teaching in several local retail art stores.  She has also taught at United Artists, Heart of Ohio Tole (HOOT), Columbus, Ohio, and at the National Society of Decorative Painters National Convention.

Sharon is a member of the Oil Painters of America, Tennessee Artists Association, Artists United, and the National Society of Decorative Painters.
